I do not typically make public announcements about being vegan/plant-based. When people have been around me for awhile they typically figure it out when I say, "No, thank you," to items they have offered me to eat, etc...and it just comes up in natural conversation.
As you are making the transition it is a process that takes time. It is a not fun being flustered by questions people ask and you don’t have the answer. You will find that when you are going against the “normal Standard American Diet” suddenly everyone becomes a certified nutritionist (insert sarcasm). Just let their comments roll off your shoulders - don't stress!
I'm not sure where this comes from, but people automatically assume to become vegan the food is astronomically priced. That is not the case! Some of the cheapest staples we have been using for years are vegan (oatmeal....rice and beans...). You can be as frugal or fancy as you want...just like everyone else at the grocery store!
Cheap Lazy Vegan has a great YouTube channel and this video is all about what she could do with $20. TWENTY DOLLARS! Go take a look and let me know what you think!
